Pat Comerford and Barny Harrison are the partners and founders of GLOBAL PUPPETEERING SERVICES.
Pat and Barny first worked together on Spitting Image where we were resident performers for a total of twelve series.
With over two decades of experience working in film, television, commercials, theatre and corporate presentations as coordinators and performers, we have built up relationships with individuals and companies all over the world.
A lot of our shoots are in the U.K., but British film crews have always been happy to travel and we have been lucky enough to work with some of the best in the industry from the U.S.A., Canada, Australia, Spain, Romania, Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic - frequently working in conjunction with puppeteers from overseas workshops but sometimes also training up local performers who have never worked with puppets before.
We have helped bring to life iconic characters such as E.T, Babe and The Muppets, childhood favourites Hector, Zaza and Kiki from the 70’s children’s TV classic Hector's House and a cast of literally hundreds of household names on Spitting Image from the Royal Family to Arnold Schwarzenegger…we've also killed a few people in the company of everyone's favourite killer doll, Chucky.
Our film work covers a broad canvas from big budget family films such as 101 Dalmatians and Muppet Treasure Island, through the action packed special effects of Blade II and Lost in Space, via the legendary monsters of The Odyssey and on to the more adult, darker themed, Babe: Pig in the City. Films such as Leprechauns, Cradle of Fear and Don Mancini's directorial debut Seed of Chucky have seen us journey all the way to the other end of the audience spectrum.
Television series include Spitting Image series 4 – 18, Mortimer and Arabel, Spooks of Bottle Bay, Wizadora, Hale and Pace, The Big Garage, Dr Xargles, Winjin’ Pom, House of Gristle, Dog and Duck, Roger and the Rottentrolls, Hotch Potch House, Round the Bend and the Emmy Award winning TV film Peter and the Wolf; A Prokofiev Fantasy.
There have been special guest appearances on programmes such as Blue Peter, GMTV, Record Breakers, Arena, Saint and Greavsie, On the Record, TVAM and comedy specials Comic Relief, Filth, Hysteria 1 & 2, Election Specials and even a Party Political Broadcast.
We have shot numerous corporate videos for blue chip clients such as IBM, Invensys, Price Waterhouse, Compaq, Anderson Consulting, Olgivy & Mather, British Telecom and The One Account as well as live benefit performances for The Princes Trust and The Terence Higgins Trust.
GPS is also very proud to be involved with the children’s educational DVD series Baby IQ - directed by Steve Clarke and made in association with the National Literacy Trust and the London Symphony Orchestra.
Baby IQ can currently be viewed as part of the in-flight entertainment package for Virgin Atlantic.
